In 2014 Wilsons stardom exploded to the other side of the Atlantic with greater prominence by announcing her participation as a character on Showtimes The Affair as Alison Lockhart who is a young, troubled woman with a dark past who falls for an unmarried man called Noah Solloway. Wilson as well as Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson won a Golden Globe as Best Actress for a Television Series-Drama in the year 2015. Wilson said in British Vogue, "I loved playing the character that has two sides to the tale." Noah considers Alison in a confident, reckless and sexy manner. But Alison views herself in a different light. In reality, she feels like a dowdy. The actress added: I think America is so moralistic and so judgmental that what is happening on television seems to be shocking. In 2018 Wilson quit her show in the midst of delight of a lot of viewers but was cryptic on further specifics. In an interview with CBS This Morning in August, with CBS This Morning, Wilson stated that she did wish to quit the show, but was not permitted to discuss the reasons behind her departure. Wilson started working in films in the last few years. Wilson starred in the thriller horror I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the Home in 2016. She also portrayed the cryptic PT Stella as the Sci-Fi rom com How to Talk to Girls a Parties. To add more horror films to the list of credits she has, she will star in a British film adaptation of The Little Stranger. This supernatural thriller was based on the book written by Sarah Waters. Wilson will also be executive producing The film.
